About the Mercer Tartan

Your unique tartan pattern was created using our proprietary algorithm, which combines the year Mercer was founded - 1833 - with the geographic coordinates of its Macon campus - 32.828° N, 83.649° W.

The individual thread counts reveal your unique time and place in history using Mercer's official primary colors - Orange and Black. Mercer's heart, mind, and spirit are also expressed through these secondary colors:

  • Blue for your spirit of stewardship for our global community,
  • White for Mercer's Baptist heritage of free thought and rigorous inquiry, and
  • Yellow for your spirit of fostering and embracing community, both within the university and without.
